Kellie_Martin: Brad_Myers: Kellie, when you do a movie like this, do you ever stop to think of all those that you help. You are doing a great thing for teens everywhere!! -I don't think about that every second. I want teenagers to see this and to think about what they are doing before they do it.

Jassen_Bowman: (laugh) I've never thought of you as uptight and neurotic. :) Is it your acting career that has done this to you?

Steve: Due to the roles you have played, you have a definite typecast....I am NOT saying this is a bad thing, especially being cast for the roles you play. However, do you ever plan to veer away from this? Comedy, maybe some more stage?

Kellie_Martin: Joanne: Kellie this movie must have been a mental and physical strain with all the emotion you must have put in it, was it???? -Yes it was, but you have to keep yourself separate even though you are making an emotional investment.

Here in Texas, things have gotten pretty bad in the last 6 months. The statewide commission on alcohol & drug abuse (TCADA), which funds most of the community-based treatment here, got pretty much axed last fall. My own agency in Fort Worth is scrambling to make up the $400,000 in treatment funds we expected from TCADA this year. Lack of treatment funding for those who can't afford private facilities is a BIG problem in Texas and probably lots of other places. If it weren't for federally-funded efforts like NCADI, many of us would simply go belly-up. Anyway, I look forward to your show, hope it gets astronomically high ratings, and encourages vieweres to think about the barriers to prevention and treatment on a wide scale. -Thank you. I hope it says something for you and does something for prevention.

Kellie_Martin: Lisa_Wilder: Obviously peer pressure is a major problem for teenagers, both for good and bad influences. But the experience of her boyfriend's controlling personality was even stronger. Can you comment on the domestic violence involved? -She loves her friends and her life with her friends she thinks. She only knows them through partying. She realizes that she and her boyfriend get along the best when they are high. This goes too far one night.

Steve: I notice that many fans of yours from a mailing-list about you are present. Do you check the mailing list at all? There are some excellent conversations and views there. In fact, we are expected to have a critique session after the movie.

Kellie_Martin: Kevin_M.: I was wondering if the movie covers how one's life becomes different after therapy i.e.-interaction with friends who still do drugs, etc..?) ùIt shows her going back to her partying life, she tries to assimilate and see how difficult it is. She needs to find the personal strength to say sober and to deal with her using friends.

DOing these scenes where she was out of control was a different experience for me because I am very uptight and neurotic, and Alex is out of control and it gave me a look into that perspective.

Steve: In what little free time you probably have, do you travel around to make public appearances?

Kellie_Martin: Henrik: I am from Norway, and I loved your performance in LGO, have you ever been to Norway or Scandinavia? -No, but I would love to go!

Carla_Eng: Do you think it is best to give up your close friends if they are involved/pressuring you about drugs?

Kellie_Martin: Steve: Kellie, what has prompted you to take the roles that you have taken (by which I mean family-oriented/troubled persona roles)? -I choose my roles so that people can go away feeling like they have learned something. I always want to make a show that makes a social commentary.

Kellie_Martin: What would you say to kids who were experimenting with drugs? -I'd tell them to see this movie and see that you don't have to go that far. It was ruining this girl's life being on drugs.

Kellie_Martin: Did you think the treatment was realistic? -I think so. We had an advisor on the set and we really tried to do the best to be realistic.

Kellie_Martin: Cliff_Giddens: Did this role take any long lasting emotional tolls on you? -This role was physically challenging, coming off LSD you shake, it was physically hard. Dealing with the aids story was harder. The holocost was emotionally draining as well.

Kellie_Martin: Do you know any other child actors as lucky as you? -I know a lot who are at college now, Sara Gilbert goes to Yale.

Carla_Eng: What did you do then, to prepare for this role?

Kellie_Martin: You say you never had any encounters; No friends or relatives who have had a problem? -No I haven't had any personal encounters. Alot of people think that child actresses go to the club scene. We work hard and have to be at work very early!

Kellie_Martin: What do you want to say to your fans about upcoming work? -I am looking forward to this, I am in a very different light. I don't want people to know that I am putting them down.

Kellie_Martin: Do you think that kept you out of that role? -I pretty much kept out of that role.

Kellie_Martin: Was this role any different? -This is probably the most different role. I never have had any encounters with a drug or alcohol problem.

Kellie Martin did an online chat on the web page for the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information. This was in direct support for her NBC movie Her Last Chance in which she plays a recovering alcoholic/addict. Alcoholism and Drug Addiction should not be taken lightly- Her Last Chance shows just how hard it can be to cope with drug addiction and how one's lifestyle has to change drastically for any lasting results to occur.
