So it works out well. BenjaminDavid: Speaking of chat. I wonder if this will become a regular occurance. Actors doing chat sessions on the net much like they do talk shows in preperation for a movie. Henrik: What do you like to do for fun? Kellie_Martin: BenjaminDavid: Paris and Louis Armstrong.. what about New Orleans? -I have not been there yet, I am dying to go! Joanne: I understand what you are saying completely, if I go looking for your homepage and leave you a message do you read the letters and also do you respond to them, this way I can give you my opinion on the movie Kellie_Martin: LGODAVE: Now that you've done "Her Last Chance", will you try similiar roles? Instead of your usual kind of role? -Not necessarily. I couldn't tell you what the next role will be, I just have to see what comes my way then I will decide. Webmaster: ***** There are 20 minutes remaining in this chat session ***** BenjaminDavid: Henrik: Dunno if it's illegal, but send mail to one of the K_M web page designers. They can probably make you a tape of the show for free. :Kellie: Will you marry me? Tim: What is your religion and does it play a role in the movies you make? Kellie_Martin: Brad_Myers: Kellie, when you do a movie like this, do you ever stop to think of all those that you help. You are doing a great thing for teens everywhere!! -I don't think about that every second. I want teenagers to see this and to think about what they are doing before they do it. Jassen_Bowman: (laugh) I've never thought of you as uptight and neurotic. :) Is it your acting career that has done this to you? Steve: Due to the roles you have played, you have a definite typecast....I am NOT saying this is a bad thing, especially being cast for the roles you play. However, do you ever plan to veer away from this? Comedy, maybe some more stage? Kellie_Martin: Joanne: Kellie this movie must have been a mental and physical strain with all the emotion you must have put in it, was it???? -Yes it was, but you have to keep yourself separate even though you are making an emotional investment. LGODAVE: Now that you've done "Her Last Chance", will you try similiar roles? Instead of your usual kind of role? Brad_Myers: Kellie, when you do a movie like this, do you ever stop to think of all those that you help. You are doing a great thing for teens everywhere!! BenjaminDavid: responsible tv: it's the reason you have such a big following on the net. thanx Lisa_Wilder: Kellie, do you know any statistics regarding how expensive your treatment was? I don't think most insurance plans cover it. What are some alternatives? Kellie_Martin: Jassen_Bowman: Hi Kellie. Can't wait to see the movie tonight. Was this role any more emotionally draining than you've said that last LGO season was? -It was cool because it gave me the opportunity to play an out of control person. As I said before I am uptight and neurotic! Kellie_Martin: BenjaminDavid: Why do you think alcohol and drugs are such a serious problems for teens today? As opposed to 50 years ago. -I think that TV is not being as responsible, they glamorize drugs and alcohol. Advertisers show models smoking and make it look cool. Jassen_Bowman: Hi Kellie. Can't wait to see the movie tonight. Was this role any more emotionally draining than you've said that last LGO season was? Kellie_Martin: Steve: My wife is an 8th grade guidance counselor in a city school here in newport News, VA. Some of the stories she comes home with are just so sad. 6th graders high, 7th graders pregnant. Very sad. Happy to see SOMEONE trying to show people what the flip side of the coin is. -Thanks! Kellie_Martin: : Hi, Kellie! I'm a big fan of your work. I have two questions, One of which is personal, so you don't have to answer. First, you seem to seek out roles which either depict a character with morals, or films which carry a moral message. WHat are your views of TV censorship? .second question: (personal) In your personal life, where is your father? Thanks for all the wonderful roles, and have a great future. (p.s.) Read some of the classics in connection with your art research. You may find some interesting connections. Re - Wyndam Lewis. Lorrinj -I think that TV needs to realize its responsibility. I believe that words should be appropriate to its viewing audience. TV needs to be responsible to its viewers. Kellie_Martin: Ricky_Fluke: Hello Kellie! I'm glad I stumbled across this chat thing, because (a) I'm a fan of yours, and (b) I'm involved in substance abuse ressearch. Here in Texas, things have gotten pretty bad in the last 6 months. The statewide commission on alcohol & drug abuse (TCADA), which funds most of the community-based treatment here, got pretty much axed last fall. My own agency in Fort Worth is scrambling to make up the $400,000 in treatment funds we expected from TCADA this year. Lack of treatment funding for those who can't afford private facilities is a BIG problem in Texas and probably lots of other places. If it weren't for federally-funded efforts like NCADI, many of us would simply go belly-up. Anyway, I look forward to your show, hope it gets astronomically high ratings, and encourages vieweres to think about the barriers to prevention and treatment on a wide scale. -Thank you. I hope it says something for you and does something for prevention. : Hi, Kellie! I'm a big fan of your work. I have two questions, One of which is personal, so you don't have to answer. I think it is great that you did this movie, thanks!! Briandh: Hi, kellie Kellie_Martin: Steven: My mom teaches teenagers who use alcohol and drugs. she said it is very bad. Did you spend time with teenagers who did this?? -I spent time with one girl in particular whom this show is loosely based on and she has helped me with the mental process as to what brought her into it. Webmaster: ***** You are chatting live with Kellie Martin regarding her role as Alex in the upcoming NBC made for TV movie "Her Last Chance" airing tonight on NBC after this live chat! ***** Kellie_Martin: BenjaminDavid: What will your Gallery exhibit? Kellie_Martin: Lisa_Wilder: Obviously peer pressure is a major problem for teenagers, both for good and bad influences. But the experience of her boyfriend's controlling personality was even stronger. Can you comment on the domestic violence involved? -She loves her friends and her life with her friends she thinks. She only knows them through partying. She realizes that she and her boyfriend get along the best when they are high. This goes too far one night. Steve: I notice that many fans of yours from a mailing-list about you are present. Do you check the mailing list at all? There are some excellent conversations and views there. In fact, we are expected to have a critique session after the movie. Kellie_Martin: Kevin_M.: I was wondering if the movie covers how one's life becomes different after therapy i.e.-interaction with friends who still do drugs, etc..?) ùIt shows her going back to her partying life, she tries to assimilate and see how difficult it is. She needs to find the personal strength to say sober and to deal with her using friends. WILD_RG_2: hi baby Frank: Hi Kellie, I just want to say thank you to you and NCADI for doing this. It is a great service to us people out here in the real world. BenjaminDavid: What will your Gallery exhibit? Your photography? I was wondering if the movie covers how one's life becomes different after therapy (i.e.-interaction with friends who still do drugs, etc..?) Brad_Myers: There are so many out there for you.... I think KSK19 is right in saying that it will bring a better understanding to the world! Steve: Paris is so beautiful, if you visit the right places. I just left the navy and I was there a year ago. Breath-taking. Kellie_Martin: Joanne: I live right outside of Toronto in Brampton, it is about a half an hour away, hey if you are ever here again you know you have a place to stay. My sister Christine is sitting here as well and would also like to say hi!!!! Is this movie based on someones real life experiences?????? -Thanks! I would like to say that this is based on anyone who has ever had problems with alcohol or drugs because this could be anybody's family member. Angie_Miller: Kellie, I loved Becca! The scene I that stands out most in my mind is the one in which your brains were pouring out of your head. I thought you were great on Life Goes On. Kellie_Martin: Tim: What are your plans after college? -I want to move to Paris and have a gallery on the Left Bank. Our online chat with Kellie Martin regarding her role as Alex in the upcoming NBC made for TV movie "Her Last Chance" airing tonight on NBC after this live chat! Please read the following three paragraphs first! Kellie Martin did an online chat on the web page for the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information. This was in direct support for her NBC movie Her Last Chance in which she plays a recovering alcoholic/addict. Alcoholism and Drug Addiction should not be taken lightly- Her Last Chance shows just how hard it can be to cope with drug addiction and how one's lifestyle has to change drastically for any lasting results to occur. Special thanks to Barbara Blue at NCADI for providing the official transcripts for this chat! Due to the chat medium- this page must be read from bottom to top. (You are already at the bottom.) You'll see Kellie's answers directly after the question asked. Note: some questions were not answered (it's hard to get to everyone's questions- but we're hoping Kellie will keep coming back to chat on the Internet!) So what are you waiting for!? |
